The Glorious Exchange
So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.(1 Corinthians 15:42-49 NKJV)
Key Text:
“It is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.” (vs 43).Commentary
The Christian’s destiny is built firmly on the promise of eternity. Christ promised that as He came back to life after death, so also our perishable bodies will be exchanged for the imperishable bodies (heavenly bodies). At His coming, there would be an exchange, and for all who had surrendered and built their lives in Him, He promises to transform. The exchange at resurrection would be glorious because our corruptible would be sacrificed for the incorruptible, the dishonouring would be exchanged for glory, our weakness would be exchanged for power and mortality would be exchanged for immortality. It would be an amazing sight, for no natural body would share in this glory and therefore any man that has not surrendered himself to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in Jesus Christ, would be stuck in his corrupt body and would not partake this glorious exchange God has promised.
Before you sleep tonight, take out time to ask yourself a question, “Have you surrendered your natural body to the leadership of Jesus? Have your life, desires and all been sown into Him?” You need to know where you stand.
Prayer Points:
- Heavenly Father, please forgive me and redeem me from anything I have been keeping away from you.
- Dear Lord, on the day of Your glorious coming, may I not be found wanting.
- I surrender everything that I have been holding back to You Lord, take over and transform my heart to Yours in Jesus name.
