Breaking the Odds
And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi. So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months. But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river's bank. And his sister stood afar off, to know what would be done to him. (Exodus 2:1-4NKJV)
Key Text:
“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king's command.” (Hebrews 11:23 NKJV)Commentary:
Fear is the greatest enemy of FAITH and Faith is the greatest threat and solution to Fear. Often times believers compromise and lose heart as a result of fear; they give in to certain situations that is contrary to what we believe because we fear to lose our status, possessions, cliques and lots more. But the truth is this: “The more we give in to our fears, the more it cripples our faith and the better chance it has in controlling our lives. The Mother of Moses was not ready to become one of those whose fears took the better hold of, rather she broke the odds by risking their own safety in protecting the baby Moses and hiding him against the Kings command. This leap of faith was an invitation to God to keep the baby safe for His own purpose.
As we later found out from the scriptures, this baby that the circumstances of his birth was against the norm became an anchor man in the salvation of the people of Israel from Egypt. Before you sleep tonight, let go of your fears and be ready to take a stand of faith.
